About the role

Product Design is an integral part of the business and team here at Rockets of Awesome. We’re looking for a digital Product Designer to help design digital product experiences that our customers love, and that help our business meet its goals.

 

We are seeking a talented Product Designer to be a customer advocate, interpreting our customer’s needs into thoughtful digital product design solutions. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker who effectively communicates ideas and collaborates with cross-functional partners across all areas and levels of the business. This role is responsible for all things digital experience design—gathering and interpreting customer feedback, leading and creating detailed user experience designs, and providing interaction direction from definition to specification.

 

What you’ll do

  • Lead, define, and communicate the digital product design direction using appropriate tools to describe intent. This includes sketches, workflows, wireframes, interaction specifications, use cases, etc.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, visual designers, customer experience, marketers, and merchandisers, advocating for the best experience for our customers
  • Own all aspects of your designs from inception through launch and post-launch performance
  • Own and run user research from discovery to usability to understand customer needs and
  • Interpret customer needs into effective and thoughtful design solutions
  • Create user-centered designs by considering site analytics, customer feedback, and research findings
  • Design solutions that meet measurable business objectives
  • Bring inspiring ideas and motivation into an energetic and collaborative team
  • Own and champion an interaction design pattern library
  • Educate and evangelize UX practices and customer empathy within the organization

 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of designing consumer-facing digital products
  • Passion for design thinking and user-centered design practices
  • Proven experience leading design thinking and user-centered design practices across multiple functional disciplines
  • Experience designing for mobile web and desktop experiences, and understanding of responsive breakpoints
  • A portfolio which demonstrates problem solving in the various phases of user-centered design
  • Understanding of CSS and HTML
  • Excellent communication skills (both in conversation and in writing)
  • Comfort collaborating with multiple functional disciplines
  • Proficient in latest design tools (Sketch, Zeplin, Invision)
  • Degree in Design-related field (Interaction Design or HCI preferred)

  • Startup experience and/or experience in an agile environment
