Product Designer (Digital)

New York, United States | Digital Product | Full-time | COVID-19 remote

Rockets of Awesome designs the most awesome kids’ clothes and simplifies the process of shopping. We often describe ourselves as a data-driven tech company masquerading as a kids’ fashion brand. As a direct-to-consumer, digital-first brand, our core offering is a personalized subscription box service where customers are in complete control of what we send. We also have an online store and our upcycle program Rockets Reverse, to send back outgrown clothes for credits.

We’re looking for a product designer who wants to make our customer experience even more awesome for families. You’ll join our Product Team and be the product designer for the entire Rockets of Awesome product: the customer journeys across our subscription and ecommerce channels; from acquisition to retention and loyalty; internal tools; and programs. You’ll report to the Senior Director of Product, and partner closely with engineers, digital designers, marketers, CX, data analysts, and executive stakeholders to delight customers and drive business impact.

We are currently working fully remote. When we do return to our Manhattan office (targeting Fall) this role will be expected to move to our hybrid remote/-in office model, working at least 3 days together a week in-person.

More about our product:

The clothes:

Our clothes—designed in-house for girls and boys sizes 2-14—are driven by style, constructed for comfort, and most are priced under $40. Customers big and small love our bright colors; bold patterns, prints, and graphics; fun details; and the softness of our clothes. Some favorites include our CrazySoft franchise (the SOFTEST fabric ever); 3D t-shirts that come with 3D glasses; raincoats that change colors when they get wet; and reversible swimsuits with sunscreen built in.

The subscription service:

Customers take an online style quiz to tell us their sizes and preferences. Through the magic of our apparel team, Rocket Scientists, and machine-learning algorithm, we curate personalized subscription boxes. We send a “Peek” to the customer to review the items we think they’ll love (the most) before we ship, but they can swap out what they don’t want. Our signature blue box (designed to be colored inside!) arrives and the fashion show begins. They can keep what they like, and send back the rest for free, although if they keep everything in their box they save even more. Each box comes with a Rockets Reverse bag where they can send outgrown clothes from any brand back for credit to use in our online store.
